Cycling through the Moravian Gate
Hotel & Restaurant Zámeček is located in Starý Jičín, which is a crossroads of European bicycle paths and roads. The landscape of the Moravian Gate is superb for cycling trips for beginners as well as advanced long-distance cyclists. Routes in the area are suitable for road, trekking, and mountain bikes. We are preparing a series of cycling maps for you, which will take you to the most exciting places in the area.
Amber Trail Castles
Numerous Moravian castles and fortresses guarded an important trade route connecting the Baltic countries with the Mediterranean. The castle Starý Jičín is located next to the Hotel & Restaurant Zámeček. Visit the medieval protectors of the Amber Trail – the castle Helfštýn, Starý Jičín, Štramberk, Hukvaldy and Silesian-Ostrava Castle in a couple of days.
Journeys of Pobeskydí natural park
Starý Jičín is situated on the border of the Pobeskydí Nature Park and the Moravian Gate. These areas offer many opportunities for relaxation and exploration but are not overloaded with tourists. The birth house with the museum of the founder of genetics Gregor Johann Mendel is nearby, as well as the birthplace and museum of Sigmund Freud in nearby Příbor, the picturesque town of Štramberk with a famous stone tower or the car museum with the legendary Tatra trucks and automobiles in Kopřivnice.
